Tell Us About Yourself and How You Got Your Start On Etsy
My name is Heidi Woodruff and my Etsy shop is "Everyday Cookies" (EverydayCookies). I hand paint signs, and specialize in custom signs such as wedding and baby shower signs. I've been selling on Etsy since I joined in March of 2007 and received my first (and prized!) order the beginning of May 2007. At that time I also sold my hand painted signs through eBay, but discontinued that after a few very successful years with Etsy. I also started blogging about that time, naming my blog "Everyday Cookies at Sweet Woodruff Acres". I decided to use the same name for my Etsy store.
Where Did You Get Your Shop Name
The "Everyday Cookies" came from a combination of several things. I love to make cookies, I collect cookie cutters, I felt everyday everyone needs some sort of treat--even if it's just one cookie, and I knew a little about computer language in that when you visit a site it leaves "cookies" on your computer showing where you've visited! Strange combination, but that's how I came up with the name.

What Does A Typical Day Look Like For You
A typical day for me begins at 6:30 when I get my first cup of coffee and settle in to spend time in the Bible. After my personal devotion time, I then spend time daily studying for a ladies Bible study I lead weekly. By about 8 AM I'm off to work in my home office, multi-tasking my "big girl job" (lumber wholesale) and my "delightful job" of selling, designing and painting signs. I also cut, mill and paint all my lumber sign blanks in our shop.

What Is Your Favorite Bible Verse
I'd have to say Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21 is my favorite passage! I do have Isaiah 40:31 posted on my blog: "But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

where morning dawns, where evening fades,
you call forth songs of joy.
You care for the land and water it;
you enrich it abundantly.
The streams of God are filled with water
to provide the people with grain,
for so you have ordained it.
This Summer has been hot. The corn loves that. There have been days where you would have thought you could hear it growing. However, for a while the leaves were curling from lack of water and we were concerned about our neighbors who depend on these crops to feed their families. But, just in time the rains came and we have enjoyed the beautiful juicy ears of corn that grew to maturity.
God does this for us. The Psalmist was aware of this and said it so poetically.
you soften it with showers and bless its crops.
You crown the year with your bounty,
and your carts overflow with abundance.
the hills are clothed with gladness.
and the valleys are mantled with grain;
they shout for joy and sing.

Black Laptop Case Large Embroidered Psalm 119 - 105 by CarrytheWord
I own SugarCreations on Etsy and I'm fairly new to the Etsy world but I have been creating accessories for about 6 years now. I'm married and have 2 adorable girls (Ava almost 2 & Chloe 4 months). My husband and I are the youth ministries pastors at our church and have been doing that for 3 years. I am also lead worship with our praise team.
I was feeling a bit discouraged a few weeks ago. A bit frustrated with our youth ministry. Almost questioning God why He had us there. Wondering if that was our purpose. Wondering, if I was doing what He was putting in my heart, why was I not seeing the results I wanted to.
The day after my husband and I were conversing about this, friends of ours came over. We were to have a meeting, planning our youth camps for the year. We normally have a short devotional before starting our meetings. So we did. We read out of the book of Job.
I began to think...
"I have it all planned out-plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for." Jeremiah 29:11
Let me share this short story with you:
As the father wakes to a blazing fire in his home, he realized his young son is upstairs. The fire is so bad it's hard to see through the flames and smoke. He hears his son screaming for him. The father realizes he is unable to get him, the flames have engulfed the stairs.
As the young boy stand at the top of the stairs unable to see his father standing below, his father yells, "Son, just jump! I can see you. I will catch you!" The son replies, "But dad, I can't see you. I'm scared!" His father again replies, "Son, don't worry! Trust me! I can see you. Jump!"
Although scared, and unable to see his father, he jumps. Only to fall into his fathers arms and out to safety.
Sometimes, we have a hard time trusting Him when we can't see what we were anticipating. We doubt. Always remember He is at times just simply waiting on us to be faithful and have complete trust in Him. Once we let go of our doubts and fears and JUST JUMP, we will realize we will be falling into His arms and taken onto HIS purpose and plans.
If you don't remember anything else from this, remember this...
I hope you have enjoyed this and today's faith driven finds.
In His Love,
Ana

Introduction
Hi, my name is Amy! I have been married for 8.5 years to a wonderful man and we have two beautiful children aged 4.5 and almost 2.

I’ve been making jewelry since late 2003, making beaded jewelry and it’s evolved in the past few years to stamped jewelry. Since I’ve started doing the stamped jewelry the business has really taken off. I was recently on a local daily television show called IndyStyle and you can see the video on my website here (http://www.amycornwell.com/
How did you get your start on Etsy?
I don’t even remember how I found Etsy, but when I saw it I knew it couldn’t hurt to try. The fees were so low that I figured if I didn’t sell a thing I wouldn’t be out much. Thankfully I didn’t have to worry about that! What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day consists of getting up at 6am, getting myself and my kids ready. Then I take them to the babysitter while I go to work at our church as the Sr. Pastor’s Assistant. I get off at 5pm (M-Th), pick up the kids and do dinner/bath/bedtime. After bedtime I work on orders until they are done which is usually by 10:30 or 11:00 pm. I don’t do orders every day, but usually every other day.
If you could be anywhere in the world for one day, where would it be?Oh wow, that’s a hard one. If it were just one day and anywhere, I’d probably say a day in Fiji or somewhere equally as beautiful by the beach.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
My favorite verse since I was in High School is:
“So we do not lose heart
Though our outer self is wasting away,
our inner self is being renewed day by day.”
What is your favorite Etsy item listing to feature?

I have two favorite items from my shop right now and both are pretty new to the shop. The first is the Family Tree: Circle of Love necklace which comes with an extra long 30" chain.
The second favorite is my Momma Bird necklace that is super cute and unique. I love it because birds are so popular right now.

for you alone, O LORD,
make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8
It has gotten me through some very severe storms. Not the emotional kind but weather. I use to hate strong winds and had an unusual fear of tornadoes for never having experienced one. I no longer lay awake all night prepared to wake the house up to seek shelter in the basement (much to my husband's relief). I now am able to get a good night's sleep knowing the Lord will wake me if it is needed. This verse brings me peace. For God alone can keep me safe.
At one time I traveled on a book tour with an author and several other people promoting his book. One night after driving for hours on end, we entered Los Angeles at 3 in the morning totally exhausted. We came to a mediocre looking hotel (we normally stayed in very nice hotels but this day we had somehow gotten off schedule) and checked in. Apparently this hotel? was normally used at an hourly rate and I suspect was often used for illegal activities. On the corner were women of ... (how should I carefully say this?) ill-repute. Being the only woman in our group, I was going to have a room of my own. My companions offered to keep driving until we found something a little more appropriate butI was so tired at that point (I had done a considerable amount of the driving) I did not even care. I slept in my clothes, barely used the washroom and prayed Psalm 4:8. I figured at that point I was in God's hands and I needed sleep.I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for you alone, O LORD,
make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8
for you alone, O LORD,
make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8
Another time this verse came alive to me was the day we had to ask our 18 year old son to leave. We had tried over and over to get him to follow our rules but he continually chose to do what he wanted. These were very basic rules that he signed a contract to follow. He repeatedly made the decision to go his own way, re-sign a contract and continued the same behaviors. With a heavy heart one day, we felt that he left us no choice but to ask him to leave the house immediately. Armed only with a backpack of what he considered essentials and a pager, he walked into the darkness without a destination. Knowing this would happen I had arranged for a place for him to stay for a day or two until he settled but he chose not to do that either. .. He walked out peacefully and promised to return my pages (that was just prior to cell phones being normal and pagers were common.)
At that moment I did not see a young rebellious man fade into the night, I saw my 3 year old precious little boy drifting away from me. Oh how a mother's heart can ache!
My prayer was constantly: "Lord you know where he is and what he is doing. He is safer in Your hands than mine. I hand him to you. For you alone, O LORD, will make make him dwell in safety." And He did. My son was safe through it all. My ability to sleep at night and not be plagued by obsessive worry was only due to my trusting God at His Word.
make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8
In Proverbs 3:5 the Lord reminds us to trust in Him with our whole heart.
Prov 3:5
Working on applying and making Prov 3:5 ingrained into my being (I am still working on that) has not necessarily made everything easier. But it has given me a peace and an inner strength that provided me the ability to get through whatever came my way. Not only to "get through it" but to grow through it and to trust through it. AND I have been able to sleep!
for you alone, O LORD,
make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8

I kind of pouted back then because I thought I should be honored not state why I was honored to be a mom! But God has His way of bringing my thinking around when I allow Him. So with a little nudging from the Lord, I started thinking of all that I’ve learned from my mother and my sweet mother-in-law. Also I thought of how they had affected, even changed my life for the better. So I decided to apply that same concept to why it was an honor to be a mother. How had my children taught me? How had they affected and changed my life?
The following are my thoughts and answers to those questions some 16 or 17 years ago.
I can’t think of any way my children have not affected my life!
When they were young…
I learned the first time little feet step on the grass – it tickles! And dandelions are wonders that turn noses yellow, make great bouquets in paper cups, and stimulate the imagination as you blow wishes into the wind.I learned toddlers are always at their crankiest when you are preparing dinner or when you want them to be at their very best.I’ve learned when my Jeni was in the hospital, when I had barely six hours sleep in four days, I could still function. As my children grew…
I learned that no matter what age they were, they have hidden radar that activates the minute I pick up the phone!AND at that minute they always have some question of great importance that needs immediate attention.I learned kisses only made little hurts better, big cuts need more time, more care. The real hurts are not external but cut deep within, often to the soul. And I learned they can be easily missed.I’ve learned to be assertive and speak up for my children when they couldn’t. And now I’m learning to allow them to speak for themselves. With that I’m learning to listen. This is a hard one to learn, for it seems when I want to listen, they are not in the mood to talk. But often they get the gift of gab when I’m not in a listening mode. Now as they are reaching adulthood…
I’ve learned the pain of them separating from me to become their own person. And with that I’ve learned the joy of watching them blossom into unique individuals. After twenty years of motherhood, I’ve learned that I’m not the perfect mom I set out to be. I’ve made many mistakes. Some I’ve learned from, others I don’t even know about yet.I think back to almost twenty years ago… of holding my Jeni in my arms and I knew then what an incredible God we have. I could see His handiwork in her beauty. Then two years later, I was reminded again as I held the tiny fingers of my little Daniel.
And as I thought about holding them in my arms – gifts entrusted to me by God…
I learned that my arms were not strong enough to hold them.I learned one day they would out grow them. And one day when they got hurt, they may not choose to seek my loving arms to comfort them. But I learned God’s arms are strong and would always be there for them!So the greatest and probably the hardest thing that Ive learned was to give the gifts that God had given me back to Him.Yes, to me, it is an honor to be a mother…It is an honor to have received three such wonderful gifts: the gift of Jeni; the gift of Daniel; and the gift of growing in trust and knowledge of our awesome God who has created each one of us.
With Mother's Day less than a week a way, I rifled through my archives to find this. As I retyped it my eyes started to well with tears at how true these words are to my life today as they were back then. I am now honored to be the mother of not only Jeni & Daniel but the mother-in law to a wonderful man. I also am honored to be the grandmother of five beautiful children.
Believe it or not... It still has not stopped!
I am still learning and I feel that there is value to me sharing my wealth of knowledge with you. I usually don't focus on food but my 3 1/2 yr old and 2 year old granddaughters have taught me that there is another valuable use for yogurt. If you have wood floors and paint the floors with the yogurt when your mom is busy, you can create an awesome slip 'n slide!
God is good... Let us all praise Him for His wonders!!
