"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "plans to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  Jeremiah 29:11

A couple of weeks ago, my family experienced a sudden and unexpected loss.  It has left us asking many questions.

"Why?"
"Why must these tragedies happen?"
"Why must life on this earth be so painful sometimes?"
"Why?"

I freely admit that over the last couple of weeks I have asked God "Why?" often.  It is so hard for this human mind of mine to understand why it must be this way sometimes.  However, I also freely tell you that I have not once doubted that God had a plan in this situation.  He only wants good for each one of us.  And, while the road to the good may be lined with difficulties, we can be assured there are many blessings to be found along the way.

Praying many blessings for us all as we walk the roads of pain and struggle in our lives.

Happy Sunday!

I thought I'd do something a little different this week and simply share some of my favorite scriptures that I found as I browsed thru various CASTTEAM shops tonight.  I hope you enjoy and have a blessed Sunday!  Melanie/Beads-N-Style

"At all times for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father."  Ephesians 5:20

Feeling thankful and blessed this weekend.... what a blessing God gave us when He gave us our Daddys!  Daddys love unconditionally, they believe despite disappointments, they comfort when life gets tough, they bandage scraped knees, they are full of hugs, they teach, they encourage, they sacrifice....  the list is endless.

Thank you, Dear Lord, for the gift of Daddys!!

Praying for a terrific Sunday spent celebrating those special men in our lives!

"Peace I leave with you, My peace I leave unto you.... " John 14:27

Peace... that only Jesus can provide.

Peace... that comforts every need and calms every fear.

Peace... a priceless gift from our Lord and Savior.

Praying for a peace-filled Sunday for all!
Happy Sunday!
"Do not remember the past events, pay no attention to things of old.  Look, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming.  Do you not see it?  Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert."  Isaiah 43:18-19

I love the idea of taking something old and refurbishing it into something new.  Some of my favorite shops on Etsy are the ones that showcase old furniture, jewelry, etc that has been re-finished or updated to make something completely new and different.

I also think it's pretty cool that my God is in the same business.  He takes each one of us -- people that have made mistakes, that have sinned, that have regrets -- and he makes us into something new and beautiful.  He gives us a light to shine out to the world to share His love and to share about His business of refurbishing... giving new lives for old

Of course, we must be willing to let Him in and to let Him work in our lives as He sees fit.  Oh, yes... some days it is difficult and it is painful.  But, it is so worth it in the end.  Days full of peace and joy.  Days full of love and laughter.  Days that will lead us straight into eternity.

I've been listening to alot of Mandisa lately as I drive to and from work each day.  She has a song entitled "Say Goodbye" that speaks of letting go of our pasts and looking to the new that we can find in God.  In closing, I'd like to share the lyrics with you....

To the voice to the liar in the mirror
Sayin you can't ever change
To the guilt that's sittin on your shoulder
Always keepin you locked in chains
To the past that you can't undo
To the pain that you're walkin through
To the small and the big mistakes
This is what love wants to say

Say goodbye
Say goodbye
To the one that used to be
Say goodbye
Say goodbye
Everyday is a brand new mercy
Hello
Hello
This is where it starts now
Hello
Hello

Everything can turn around
In a moment, here's your moment
You can say goodbye

There is grace that you can't imagine
There is love that you can't out run
There is peace that you can hold onto
When your world is comin undone
You don't have give into the fear
Don't have to have let your story stop here
And when the hand tries to pull you back
You don't have to back, you don't have to go back

Say goodbye
Say goodbye
To the one that used to be
Say goodbye
Say goodbye
Everyday is a brand new mercy
Hello
Hello
This is where it starts now
Hello
Hello
Everything can turn around
In a moment, here's your moment
You can say goodbye

To everything that breaks you down
It doesn't have to define you now
Jesus came to take it all away

Say goodbye
Say goodbye
To the one that used to be
Say goodbye
Say goodbye
Everyday is a brand new mercy
Hello
Hello
This is where it starts now
Hello
Hello
Everything can turn around
In a moment, here's your moment
You can say goodbye

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."  Luke 12:6-7
As I think back through my childhood -- and even adult years -- I have so many precious memories of my Mother.  She is truly special... a gift from God.  She taught me much, but one memory in particular always stands out.
One Sunday evening, just before Christmas, I had gone to church early with Mom.  She regularly played the piano during services and was going up early to practice the song she planned to play during the offertory that evening.

I was in a particularly bad mood that evening -- sulky and cranky, down on myself in just about every way.  I was home on Christmas break from college and the day before had received my semester grades in the mail.  I had failed my Economics class (required to graduate) and I had taken it badly.  I was convinced my college career was over, I'd never graduate, never get a good job, and on and on.

As I moped around the sanctuary while Mom practiced, she suddenly stopped.  She asked me if I knew the words to the song she was playing.  I did.. I knew them well.  The song was "His Eye Is On the Sparrow".  She reminded me how very much God loved me and how special I was regardless of any grade I had made in school.  She asked me to sit down and really listen to the words of that song.

I will never forget that evening.  Just Mom and I alone -- her playing and I listening.  I had been taught all my life how special I was and how God loved me and would always be with me regardless of what I had or had not done.  However, in that moment the message really sunk in.. probably for the first time.  I really "got" what that song meant when it said, "His eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me".

To this day, I struggle to put my head around the greatness of God's love.  But, I know it is real and I know that I see it played out in my life daily.  I am where I am because of His great and mighty love for me.

Mom gave me a great gift that evening.  I pray I can teach my children as well what a great and mighty God we serve.  I love you Mom!

Happy Sunday and Happy Mother's Day!

The Triumphal Entry

John 12:12-15

12The next day the great crowd that had come for the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
"Hosanna!"
"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!"
"Blessed is the King of Israel!" 14Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written,
15"Do not be afraid, O Daughter of Zion;
see, your king is coming,
seated on a donkey's colt."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is Palm Sunday, March 28, 2010, and we remember when Jesus was coming into Jerusalem on a donkey's colt. The people took palm branches and greeted Jesus, waving the branches in welcome. I grew up Catholic and in our churches, we had high respect for Palm Sunday. We would wave the palm fronds just like they did in this verse and it was always a joyous day. Let us all praise Him today for the sacrifice he made for all of us. Next week is Easter, Resurrection Day! Hallelujah!
