The Triumphal Entry

John 12:12-15

12The next day the great crowd that had come for the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
"Hosanna!"
"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!"
"Blessed is the King of Israel!" 14Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written,
15"Do not be afraid, O Daughter of Zion;
see, your king is coming,
seated on a donkey's colt."

This is Palm Sunday, March 28, 2010, and we remember when Jesus was coming into Jerusalem on a donkey's colt. The people took palm branches and greeted Jesus, waving the branches in welcome. I grew up Catholic and in our churches, we had high respect for Palm Sunday. We would wave the palm fronds just like they did in this verse and it was always a joyous day. Let us all praise Him today for the sacrifice he made for all of us. Next week is Easter, Resurrection Day! Hallelujah!

A very special day! I also remember waving palm brances in church on Palm Sunday. We used to sing a song called "Palms of Victory" and of course, "Hosanna".
A very special and holy week leading up to the death and resurrection of our precious Lord Jesus. What a priceless gift our Father has given. Thank you, Abba.

Thank you for your post on Palm Sunday.

Next Sunday everyone will be singing "HE arose!" My favorite Easter song!

Truly amazing when you think about the actual journey He was taking. The end destination was not a joyous one for Him, but He did it all out of LOVE for US! How humble we should be!

Hallelujah indeed! The children at our church walked in waving their branches and singing today. I was not able to be there but my husband described all of their adorable actions. Praise Him this day!

I miss some of those traditions - I remember Cynthia walking in with Palm leaves in the church we attended way back then. Happy praisefilled Palm Sunday to everyone!

I enjoyed Palm Sunday yesterday! We were encouraged to ask ourselves whether Jesus was really our King or whether it was just a pretence - like for many of those who shouted Hosanna and a few days later shouted Crucify!
