Introduction
I’m married to Pete with 4 children (2 boys, 2 girls) and a fosterson. Steve 27, Dave 26, Rachel 23, Naomi 18 and Nic 17. In 2000 Rachel became ill with cancer and I spent a lot of time at home and hospital with her. We painted together sometimes which was therapeutic. Happily, and against all expectation, Rachel recovered sufficiently to be more independent and I started to sell silk ties on eBay.

How did you get your start on Etsy?
I sold silk ties and scarves on eBay for 5 years then a friend (Bina Geyer also in CAST) introduced me to Etsy. I’ve loved selling on Etsy and made many good friends.
Typical doesn’t happen that often (!) but loosely speaking I have a quiet time with the Lord, my Bible and a cup of tea before I get up. After that I catch up with emails, convos, twitter, CAST thread etc. With being in the UK there’s usually plenty happened on Etsy while I’ve been asleep! Then I list new stuff on eBay and relist any that didn’t sell in the auctions. I usually paint at least 3 weekdays. After lunch I outline more ties ready for painting the following day and then heatfix things I’ve painted. I renew or list my Etsy stuff in the afternoon or evening so US people get to see it as well. If there’s time I design new ties, update my Facebook page, promote etc.
Singapore! My son Dave lives there near his fiancĂ© Xinyi. They’re getting married here next year.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
I have many favourites but one I keep falling back on is 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” – Amazing!
What is your favorite Etsy item listing to feature?
Singapore Orchid Scarf (from the giveaway, shown at top of this post) – I’m thinking of wearing one for my son’s wedding!
