Here is what Anna says about these beautiful Giveaway Earrings: I have created these earrings just for this Giveaway. They hang about 1.5 inches/3.8 cm and were made with silver chain and silver squares. Dangling within the squares are swirled purple Cape Amethyst beads. The earhooks are nickel-free wire.
Introduction:
My name is Anna, named after the famous musical star Anna Maria Alberghetti. I have been married to my best friend for almost two years and we have three kittens and one huge German Shepard. During the day, I am an archaeologist. I specialize in southern California archaeology and have so for over ten years now.
At night and on weekends, I run ASA Designs. I have been making jewelry since High School but only seriously since last year. My jewelry style is simple and unpretentious; beautiful sparkly jewelry that can be worn for day and evening wear. Each piece is one-of-a-kind. I buy most of my beads in small batches, so I don't make duplicates unless requested to. I'm currently fascinated with how women's jewelry reflect who they are or how they are feeling that day. Because of this, I love making custom pieces!
How did you get your start on Etsy?
ASA Designs originally started as a partnership with my sister, making wine charms to sell to the local wineries. About two years ago, when I was at the lowest point in my life, God got a hold of me, picked me up and, by faith, I accepted His gift of grace and His Son Jesus Christ. I decided that since alcoholism was my downfall, I didn't want to be around that atmosphere anymore and we stopped selling the charms. The business went into hibernation for a year while we figured out what we wanted to do.
My original intentions were to create a website to sell my jewelry and my sister's knitted textiles. However, in researching all the aspects of selling online, I discovered Etsy.
After browsing the stores and reading some of the new seller articles, I was so excited. I knew this was the right venue for ASA Designs. After talking it over with just about everyone, I decided this really was the right thing to do. Within a month, ASA Designs was online and ready to go.
Unfortunately, my sister decided to pursue other avenues and our partnership did not work out; however, I'm still running the business, doing craft shows when I can and loving everything about it - except the finances. I'm horrible at doing the books! I have also expanded our product line to include men and women's fabric scarves.
I don't lead a super exciting life. Every day usually revolves around my day job, taking care of all the business aspects of ASA Designs and all the other duties that come with having a house, pets and a husband. My husband and I carpool, so I get dropped off at work at 7 a.m. and he picks me up between 5 and 6 p.m. After that comes any errands, making dinner, picking up the house, dishes, jewelry, cutting and sewing and anything else that has to be done. Spending time with my husband is usually accomplished on our drive to and from work, although sometimes we just sit and watch TV together.
If you could be anywhere in the world for one day, where would it be?
On a beach in Tulumn, Yucatan, Mexico with my husband. I have fond memories of a weekend sprnt in a hammock stretched between two palm trees on a white sandy beach with am impossibly blue ocean in the background. I miss that hammock!
