It
is our pleasure to introduce Ron and Carol Butler of GrumpaandMe as this week's
Featured Artist. Ron and Carol create wooden puzzles and Nativity sets together
at their home in California.
If you could be anywhere in the world for one day, where would it be?
Heaven! We are looking forward to the time when we will be Home with our Lord.
Grumpa and Me |
Introduction to you: We
are retired and live in the Sierra Foothills of Northern California. We have
been making Nativity sets and puzzles for approx. 25 years. We have
participated in professional craft shows but have "slowed down"
production in our senior years. Ron cuts and sands all of our items and Carol
does the painting. Ron has worked with wood most of his life. Carol has always
enjoyed crafts but about 25 years ago took a tole painting class and has been "hooked"
ever since. We have 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Giveaway: Ron and Carol will add a 3-D Nativity to the first two orders (of $18 or more) received after this blog post. (See photo below for an example.)
How did you get your start on Etsy? Our
daughter-in-law introduced us to Etsy. She set up our site and she and our son
did the photography. They felt that this would be physically easier for us than
doing professional shows. It has been a blessing to still make our items at
home and be able to share our talents with others.
How did you choose your shop
name?One
of our granddaughters has always called Ron "Grumpa" instead of
grandpa, so that is how we came up with the name "Grumpaandme".
Children Around the World Wooden Puzzle |
What does a typical day look like for you? Before
we get out of bed each morning we pray. After breakfast we each do our daily
devotional. As weather permits, we work on cutting out wood and painting about
3-4 days a week. Carol participates in a quilting group at church one day a
week. They make quilts for orphans in different countries. Ron attends a men's
bible study group. We also participate in many church and Sunday school
activities as well as a church service at an assisted living facility where Ron
sometimes gives the message.
If you could be anywhere in the world for one day, where would it be?
Heaven! We are looking forward to the time when we will be Home with our Lord.
What is your favorite Bible verse? John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Wooden Nativity Puzzle |
What is your favorite listing to feature? Our
favorite Christmas item is the "Nativity Puzzle" because it reminds
us of the birth of our Savior. Our favorite birthday or other occasions gift is
"Children Around The World" puzzle. It reminds us that Jesus loves
ALL the children of the world.
