It is our pleasure to introduce Lorie Raymer of HappyBlueDragonfly as this week's Featured Artist. Lorie crafts a wide variety of home décor pieces including coat racks and wooden signs from her home in Oregon.
Introduction to you:
I have always wanted to design something that was whimsical and useful. And I truly believe that I have found this in the items I make.
How did you get your start on Etsy?
How did you choose your shop name?
What does a typical day look like for you?
My typical day is: I get up at 6:00 am, make breakfast and get the children ready for their day. Then off to my studio by 7:00. Some days I will work nonstop until about 1am. With breaks to greet my children after school and make dinner then I am back at work. I know this seems like a lot of time in my studio but I am just starting out and I am still trying to organize my filling orders for Etsy and making items for craft bazaars.

Introduction to you:
Hi, my name is Lorie Raymer and my
shop on Etsy is called Happy Blue Dragonfly.
My shop features mostly handmade wooden children’s items with a few
shelf sitter wooden blocks for everyone to enjoy.
I live in the great NorthWest and
there isn’t anywhere I would rather be. It is beautiful here; the mountains and
the beaches are wonderful. I know you can’t swim in our cold water but it is
truly God’s country where the mountains meet the water.
I am a mother of three spirited
children. With the help of a supportive husband and family I was able to go
from a full time Pediatric Intensive Care nurse to a full time designer and
creator in my Etsy shop.
I have always wanted to design something that was whimsical and useful. And I truly believe that I have found this in the items I make.
I feel so blessed to be able to
work doing what I love to do.
Giveaway: I will offer a 5% discount to any CAST team members who
orders a minimum of $20 from my Etsy shop. Use the promo code:
CASTTEAMS at time of check out.

How did you get your start on Etsy?
I stumbled onto Etsy via the
internet. I was investigating how to sell crafts and there was Etsy all over
the place.

How did you choose your shop name?
Dragonflies have always made me
happy. I love the way they look and visually expressed in everyday life. The blue dragonfly in the Asian culture
represents joy or new life. Hence, Happy
Blue Dragonfly was born.

What is your favorite Etsy item listing to feature?
I think my favorite items on
Etsy are my whale items. The bookends and the coat rack with a close second
being my owls. They were both so much fun to make. I really enjoy coming up
with ideas and making all the items in my shop. I especially love to do custom
orders. This brings a whole new dimension to my creative thinking.
